Tumuaki Talk
Kia ora koutou, Greetings to all parents, whānau, students, and staff.
Welcome back to another busy term at Riverview School. We again have an action-packed term with many learning activities, both in and out of class. Please keep an eye on the calendar for events and activities. We are proud to have you all as part of the Riverview School family, and we are sure that you will enjoy your time with us and our fantastic community.
Special Congratulations: During the holiday, Ms Fish and her partner, Jonathan, were married. We congratulate Mr and Mrs Morningstar on their wedding. We could not be happier for both of you. The former Ms Fish, is now the new Mrs Morningstar.

We are proud to have you all as part of the Riverview School family, and we are confident that you will enjoy your time with us and our vibrant community.
Carpet Upgrade: On Monday, we were asked by the MOE to bring our anticipated carpet upgrade forward. We agreed, and work started today to replace all the carpet in the classes. This will cause some disruption, as each day, one class will be out of the classroom, working in other areas, such as the hall.
Learning: This term, we continue our focus on Reading, Writing, and Maths, and of course, support all tamariki and whānau to achieve the best possible attendance. We are also emphasising Science, experiments, and the upcoming Science Fair. It is exciting to hear the classes and tamariki all discussing experiments, making predictions, forming hypotheses, and recording observations.
Holiday Teacher Hui: During the holidays, the teaching team met to review the academic data from the mid-year reports. Discussions were held, reflection on progress made, achievement levels and linking these to gender, ethnicity, and attendance. We will share some details of these observations following the next Board meeting.
Parent/Child Learning Hui: Following our successful Maths Games night in Term Two, we are planning a Literacy Evening that will explore activities whānau can engage in with their children to support ongoing and fun ways to learn at home.
Quiz Night: Please book a babysitter for the night of Saturday, 6 September, from 7 pm for the Riverview School Quiz Night...an adult-only event to bring whānau together to have fun, laughter and maybe some learning. Please see below for further information.
Enrolments for 2026: If you have a child or children who you intend to enrol in 2026, please let us know asap under the following categories:
- In Zone: If you are in the school zone and plan to enrol a child, please let us know as soon as possible. We will start to review classes mid-to-late next term. Please email admin@riverview.school.nz.

Term Three - Overview

Policies and Procedures

The school works with SchoolDocs to maintain, update, and review our policies. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies, which have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education National Administration Guidelines. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school, and the school supplies specific information such as our charter, and procedures for behaviour management, reporting to parents, etc.
SchoolDocs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines, significant events, reviews/requests from schools, and regular reviewing from the SchoolDocs team. Our Board of Trustees has the opportunity to view changes/additions and comment on them before they are implemented. We will advise you when policies are up for review and how you can take part in the review.
We invite you to visit the site at https://riverview.schooldocs.co.nz (note that there's no "www."). Our username is "riverview" and password "heartwise".

OSCAR Holiday Programme
Our OSCAR winter holiday programme welcomed five new families to the OSCAR whanau. Children had plenty of space, tonnes of toys, crafty activities, baking and wonderful trips to keep them occupied these school holidays. Children explored our local area with an eel fishing trip, a walk to the Stone Store Reserve, a trip to Opito Bay and inline skating at Waipapa. Our trips are well planned, providing children with fun adventures in a safe environment.
Has your child ever been to OSCAR? Then give them a fun experience by sending them to an after-school session for just $20 or during the school holidays for $50 or $60 on trip days. See the school website or visit our programme Manager, Shelley Robinson in the school hall for more information.
OSCAR after school has space for new enrolments and would love to welcome new children to our OSCAR whanau. Put an end to screen time after school by sending them to OSCAR to play with other children and lots of toys. We play outside on the field and the playgrounds. Our many activities include making pancakes and face painting. After school sessions cost just $20 which includes a tasty afternoon tea. To book call 021 296 4829 or email oscar@riverview.school.nz
